Visit Katrina on first anniversary

The hurricane Katrina is being looked at again and everyone has oppinions about it.Were we really surprised to see the devastation still has not been cleaned up. It reminds me of the riots in 1968 after Martin Luther King was killed, the major cities with large black populations took their anger to the streets. They destroyed property, especially neighborhood stores. After over 40 years the devastation is still showing with innercity houses boarded up. Baltimore is one of the main cities along with Washington, D.C. that suffered an impact of burned out neighborhoods causing many residents to flee to the suburbs. I know, because I see these boarded up houses everyday.

The riots caused devastation of properties because of the anger of Martin Luther King's murder, after all he was a pacifist, and many felt he didn't deserve to die so young.

However, as for Katrina, the huricane was a natural disaster, coupled with man made responsibility of the levees not being strong enough to hold back the waters.

Many books are being written about Katrina. This book from Michael Eric Dyson is
very revealing.
